Stewart Family Cemetery

Stewart Family Cemetery

West side of Quiet Crossing Ct.
Fairfax, Va.

FX150

Early deed references to the site indicate it should measure roughly 75' by 85', but the currently delineated area is somewhat smaller. The cemetery was fenced during the contruction of the Stone Creek Crossing development in 2001-02. The site had lain abandoned for many years previously. There are four formal headstones, one base lacking an associate stone, one probable footstone, and a few fieldstone markers present. NOTE: There are unconfirmed reports of slave burials outside the fenced area to the west, but no burials were reported during the grading of this area. There are also unsubstantiated reports of Civil War burials resulting from the Battle of Chantilly. Efforts by the U.S. Army and the Ladies Memorial Association in the 1860's to remove such burials makes their continued presence here unlikely.
