John Marshall Library.The Friends of John Marshall Library is an organization of involved community volunteers who support the vital work of our neighborhood library. We are dedicated to ensuring that the needs of the library and the public it serves are met through financial contributions and support. As a Friend of John Marshall, members continue to use the services and resources of the library by providing a small contribution that recognizes the importance of the library to its patrons.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Friends of John Marshall Library is to work with the library staff to improve and support the programs, resources and activities available to its patrons. We are committed to maintaining a high quality of services and programs for adults and children.

Accomplishments
  • Family Programs—programs enjoyed by all ages on a variety of topics which delight and inform attendees.
  • Dedication and maintenance of courtyard garden—a beautiful garden enjoyed by the community which graces the entrance and provides a quiet gathering place.
  • Public speakers on timely community issues—the annual Friends program features speakers on topics of interest to adults.
  • Volunteer appreciation—library volunteers are honored for the service they perform for the library and community.
  • Partial support of the periodical collection—subscriptions which enhance periodical access for patrons of the library.

Membership

Membership requests and applications can be made at any time throughout the year. Membership dues for the Friends are renewed annually.

Your tax deductible contribution not only provides funds for various programs, but also provides much needed supplemental monies for our public library. Funds are used to purchase needed equipment and for physical interior and exterior improvements.

Meeting Dates
Meetings of the Friends Board are held quarterly. There is an annual meeting of all Friends of John Marshall usually held in April on a date to be announced.

Book Sales
The book sale is ongoing and available all hours the library is open.

Donation Process

The Friends of John Marshall Library accept books in good condition with the exception of textbooks, technical manuals, annual reports, Reader's Digest Condensed books and encyclopedias more than 10 years old. Only current magazines (no older than one year) and in good condition are accepted.

A receipt will be given for donated items which will list the number of items in broad categories. No valuation is placed on the items.
