The Home Care Development Program at the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging produces a packet of information for the public regarding available home care services that is updated several times per year.  This packet is called Finding Your Way Through the Home Care Maze.  The Home Care Packet contains sections covering the following issues:

  • What is Home Care?
  • Identifying Needs and Resources
  • Paying for Home Care
  • Hiring In-Home Providers
  • Tax Liabilities for Employers and Workers
  • What are my Rights and Responsibilities?
  • What can I do when I have a Complaint?
  • Companion Registry, a list of screened independent home care providers who are looking to be hired to provide home care services in Fairfax County.

This information is a good starting point, but it can't cover all the questions or concerns you may have.  Please make use of the resource materials referenced in the Home Care Packet. If you have further questions, please call the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging at 703-324-7948, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and ask for an Aging Information Specialist.
