Camp Cattawannagohome! Animal Shelter Offers Fee-Waived Cat Adoptions Through July 19.
July 9, 2014
The cats had a great time at Fairfax County Animal Shelter’s “Camp Cattawannagohome,” but now they’re ready to be taken home (for free!) by their new families. Through Saturday, July 19, head to the shelter and find a new feline friend during this fee-waived adoption promotion. All adopted cats are spayed or neutered and come with a collar and personalized tag, courtesy of the Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
“We typically see a very high number of cats surrendered in July, as people go on vacation or are moving and decide to get rid of their cats,” explains Kristen Auerbach, shelter director of communications and outreach. “These are loving, family pets of all ages, sizes and colors waiting for their new forever homes.”
The summer months mean high numbers of all kinds of animals coming into the shelter, including dogs and puppies, cats and kittens and small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs. “This is the best time of year to adopt,” Auerbach notes. “There are so many animals looking for new homes. And for many, the summer months mean a slightly slower pace and more time to spend with your new family member.”
The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday, noon – 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To view available pets, visit the shelter website at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalshelter or call 703-830-1100, ext. 2 for more information.
