Are you looking for an opportunity to help homeless pets in your community?  The shelter is always looking for new volunteers to help provide love, care and socialization to the 4 – 5,000 animals that come through our doors each year. 

  1. Submit an online application
  2. Wait to be contacted about the next orientation (held approximately every two months)
  3. Attend a volunteer orientation
  4. If you are chosen based on our current needs, you will undergo a criminal background check and attend a training session
  5. Attend one or more mentoring sessions with an experienced volunteer
  6. Start volunteering! You self-schedule through our volunteer software system

Jobs

Volunteer positions include:

  • Cat socialization and enrichment
  • Dog enrichment, training, and exercise
  • Small animal caregiver
  • Dog playgroup assistant
  • Groomer/bather
  • Shelter greeter
  • Administrative assistant
  • Adoption/intake counselor
  • Telephone assistant
  • Humane educator - conduct tours, attend events and more! 
  • Wildlife education volunteer

Requirements

What are the requirements to volunteer?

  1. Must be 18 years of age
  2. Must be able to lift 20 pounds
  3. Must commit to at least six hours per month, every month, for at least six months
  4. Must commit to treat all animals and people with respect and kindness
