Purpose:
|
To give objective and fair assistance to the County's tenants and landlords. The Commission provides information to educate the public concerning the rights and responsibilities of tenants and landlords, recommends changes in the tenant-landlord law at all levels of government, represents County interests concerning tenant-landlord matters before legislative and other public and private bodies; and through the staff of the Department of Cable Communications and Consumer Protection, receives, mediates, and arbitrates tenant-landlord complaints.

Membership:
|
Ten (10) Fairfax County residents - three (3) tenants, three (3) landlords, three(3) citizens, and one (1) condominium representative. Tenant Members: shall be a person who, prior to the time of his/her appointment, and throughout his/her term, shall be the lessee of and reside in a dwelling unit. Landlord Members: shall be a person who owns and leases, or serves as a manager for four (4) or more leased dwelling units in Fairfax County or is employed by a real estate management firm that manages more than four (4) rental units. Citizen Members: shall be anyone who is neither a lessee nor lessor of any dwelling unit in Fairfax County.
