Tranportation Bond Referendum Project List


On Nov. 4, 2014, Fairfax County voters approved a $100 million transportation bond referendum, and this money is intended for the following projects:

Spot Road Improvements ($16 million)

They include adding or lengthening turn lanes; upgrading traffic signals, and signage; constructing walkways and providing crosswalks; and enhancing accessibility. As a result, these projects will increase capacity, reduce congestion, improve safety, and improve access to transit.

  • North Chambliss St/Beauregard St
  • Lorton Road/Lorton Market Road
  • Silverbrook Road at Southrun Road
  • Fort Hunt Road and Collingwood Road
  • Old Courthouse Road and Besley Road
  • Route 123 (Dolley Madison) and Great Falls/Lewinsville Road Intersection

Pedestrian Improvements ($77.5 million)

They include building missing sidewalk and trail links; adding and improving signalized crosswalks; intersection improvements; signage; and enhancing accessibility. As a result, these projects will improve capacity, enhance safety and complete missing pedestrian links that connect neighborhoods, improve access to schools, and Metro stations.

Bike and Trail Improvements ($6.5 million)

They include developing new bicycle facilities, constructing trails, adding bicycle parking, and enhancing accessibility.
