Public Hearings
To speak at a public hearing before the Board, you are encouraged to register in advance with the Office of the Clerk to the Board at 703-324-3151, TTY 703-324-3903. Lists of scheduled speakers for specific public hearings are posted inside the Board Auditorium. Public hearings are held at the Fairfax County Government Center located at 12000 Government Center Parkway, in the Board Auditorium, which is off to the right of the lobby when you enter the building.
Note: If you cannot appear on the
date of the public hearing but wish to submit written testimony, please
mail to Clerk to the Board of Supervisors, 12000 Government Center
Parkway, Suite 533, Fairfax, VA 22035, or e-mail Clerk to the Board .
(Please provide your full name, home address and home and work telephone
numbers as applicable.) For accomodations in accordance with the
Americans with Disabilities Act, please contact the Office of the Clerk

If you are speaking on your own behalf you are given three minutes to
speak; if you are speaking for a group you have five minutes.
When you begin your presentation to the Board, you must state your name
and address for the record. lf you wish to distribute copies of your
statement to the Board and the media, please bring 15 copies with
you.
The Board Auditorium is equipped with a variety of audio- visual
equipment you may use to assist with your presentation. Materials, such
as slides, maps, graphs, blueprints, small three-dimensional objects, and
videos, can be presented simultaneously to both the Board and the
audience. Arrangements must be made in advance with the Department of
Cable Communication and Consumer Protection at 703-324-5930 for use of
the equipment for Powerpoint presentations or videotape playback.
It is recommended that you use one-inch margins and 12 point type with no more than 25 single-spaced lines on a page. Charts and graphs are most readable when produced with a type size of at least 14 points. The chart or graph should be printed on an 8-l/2'' x 11" sheet of paper using a horizontal format. lf these standards are met, the entire page will be readable and easily viewed at once. Documents produced with other standards may not be seen as clearly or in their entirety when projected.
Public Comment
Public comment time will be scheduled bimonthly, generally as the last public hearing of the day. Residents and businesses of Fairfax County are encouraged to present their views on issues of concern. The Board will hear public comment on any issue except: issues under litigation, issues which have been scheduled for public hearing before the Board, personnel matters and/or comments regarding individuals. Each speaker must register in advance and has up to three minutes. A maximum of 10 speakers will be heard. Speakers may address the Board only once during a six month period. Cablecasts of Board Meetings and Agendas
Monday Board meetings are shown live beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Fairfax County Government's Cable Television Channel 16. A replay of the morning session is aired Tuesday beginning at 8 p.m., and a replay of the entire meeting is aired at 10 a.m. on each Saturday following the Monday meeting. The agenda for each Board meeting is also aired as part of the Channel 16 bulletin board beginning the Friday before a meeting and continuing until the meeting begins.
Channel 16 is available on the internet. All meetings aired on Channel 16 can also be viewed on your computer via live video streaming. Go to http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov and click on Channel 16 Live.
