INTRODUCTION
During the Fall of 2006, a group of Braddock District citizens
participated in a Town Meeting and Community Dialog Series called
Braddock Tomorrow. Participants in the series learned about
projections for future population and commercial growth in the area. They
reviewed past development strategies and patterns and considered both the
positive and negative results of past development. Looking ahead at
Fairfax County and the Braddock District, as it evolves to accommodate a
growing and changing population, with sometimes shifting political,
cultural, and/or economic dynamics, the Braddock Tomorrow
participants articulated the following Community Vision for our
future.
MISSION STATEMENT
Braddock Tomorrow is a Community Discussion on the issue of
Growth and Development and our future in Fairfax County, and specifically
in the Braddock District. Participants in the Dialog will learn about
trends, projections, and demographic information on our region's growing
population. We will examine past growth decisions and patterns and will
consider problems past growth patterns have caused and successes that
have resulted. Participants in the Dialog will learn about neew
strategies and philosophies for shaping future growth. At the conclusion
of the series, participants will adopt a Community Statement on how we
would like to see future growth accommodated, and articulate a
"vision" for Braddock and Fairfax County's future.
