Best of Braddock Awards Honor Helpful Neighbors
Every July, the Braddock District Supervisor John C. Cook and the Braddock District Council host the Best of Braddock Awards and Picnic to recognize those citizens, organizations, and businesses of the Braddock District that have gone above and beyond to be the very best. Each year individuals and groups are nominated by community members to be recognized, and each year we are so pleased to let Braddock District residents know they have neighbors that are actively showing how powerful community engagement can be. This year’s award winners are:
Citizen of the Year
Diane DiPietro, Kings Park West
The Peterson Companies for the development and management of the Fairfax Corner Center.
Most “Can-Do” Public Employee
Ed Richardson, Fairfax County Park Authority
Neighborhood Enhancement or Beautification
Dave Bowden, Fairfax County Park Authority, Craig Carinci, Storm Water Management, and their Colleagues who worked on Rabbit Run Park
Organization Making a Difference in the Community
A tie between the Annandale Food Site and Friends of the Burke Centre Library
Special Achievement or Recognition
The Audrey Moore Recreation Center “Rescue Team” - Sophie Polnow, Tim Polnow, Connie Polnow, Corey Stoney, Faith Garrish
These awards will be presented Wednesday, July 10 at the Braddock District office. Food will be served at 6 p.m. and the awards will be presented at 7 p.m. All Braddock residents are welcome to attend.
