Seeking Homes to Feature on Garden Tour

Each year, the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District hosts a Watershed-Friendly Garden Tour of homes that have voluntarily installed conservation practices such as rain gardens, porous pavers, pollinator gardens, and other practices that not only help conserve soil & water, but are environmentally friendly.  The purpose of the tour is to show people what hosts have done, and motivate them to install conservation practices on their own property where such practices are appropriate.  This year the tour will take place on Sunday, June 8th from 1-5 PM, and would like to feature homes in the Burke/West Springfield/Fairfax area.

Would you like your house to be featured?  The tours could range from well-kept landscapes to more forested natural properties.  For the hosts, people come by, walk around the site, and ask questions over a 4-hour time period.  Typically we have had 30-40 people visit each site.  We can also arrange to have a volunteer help out at each site.  If you are interested please contact Allison Schneider at Allison.Schneider@fairfaxcounty.gov or (703) 425-9300.
