Board Makes Right Decision on Covanta
During our meeting last week, the Board of Supervisors made the
right decision when we opted not to purchase the Covanta incinerator, and
instead agreed to a new long-term lease.
Community Engagement Rolls on with an Environmental Leadership
Institute
As part of his continuing Community Engagement Initiative,
Supervisor Cook invites interested current or future community leaders
and volunteers to participate in a day of information and sharing on
the environment designed to empower neighborhoods to improve appearance,
interaction, openness and sustainability.
After Recent Community Meeting, University Mall Ready for Planning
Commission and Board Decision
On January 19, 2011, after the public hearing before the Fairfax
County Planning Commission, Commissioner Suzanne Harsel delayed a
decision on the proposed rezoning of the University Mall. The Planning
Commission will now vote on the application during their meeting on April

With Redistricting Process Coming to an End, Braddock District
Representative to Committee Describes Process
Earlier this year, 21 Fairfax County residents came together to form
the Fairfax 2011 Advisory Citizen Reapportionment Committee. The
Committee met several times a week to complete its work and over 20 plans
were developed by the Committee and presented in their Report, including
two ten-district plans, and one eleven-district plan.

Meeting
Over 50 residents who live in communities surrounding George Mason
University attended a community information meeting hosted by Supervisor
Cook to discuss future road construction plans on and adjacent to the
Mason campus.
