Community Engagement Initiative Continues with Second Leadership
Institute
The Braddock District Community Engagement Initiative (“CEI”) continues
with a half-day “Leadership Institute,” scheduled for Saturday, February
26, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Kings Park Library in Burke.

University Mall Rezoning, Commonwealth Swim Club, Trinity School, Song

Sound Wall Relocation Along I-495 South near Long Pine Drive to Begin
around Mid-February
As part of the construction of the I-495 Capital Beltway HOT Lanes, four
new lanes (two in each direction) will be added to the Beltway. In order
to make room for the two new Beltway lanes in each direction, the
existing sound wall along Long Pine Drive near Heming Avenue must be
relocated.
County Signs Agreement with Justice Department to Ensure Access for
People with Disabilities
The Justice Department recently announced an agreement with Fairfax
County, Va., to improve access to all aspects of civic life for persons
with disabilities. The agreement was reached under Project Civic Access
(PCA), the department’s wide-ranging initiative to ensure that cities,
towns and counties throughout the country comply with the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA). Supervisor Cook’s motion to approve the agreement
was approved by the Board on a 8-1 vote.
Monticello Park Master Plan Meeting to be Rescheduled
For the second time, the public information meeting discussing the
development of a park master plan for Monticello Park was cancelled due
to weather. When a new date is set, we will make the community aware.
