495 Express Lanes Set to Open In November
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and 495 Express Lanes
recently announced that the 14-mile corridor of new high occupancy toll
(HOT) lanes on the Virginia side of the Capital Beltway will open as
early as November 17.
Recognizing the Braddock Champions of Character Award Winners
Late last month I was pleased to attend the annual Fairfax County
Champions of Character Awards ceremony. The Champions of Character
program, organized by the Fairfax County Athletic Council (FCAC), in
partnership with the Department of Neighborhood and Community Services
(NCS), honors athletes, coaches and parents who have demonstrated
extraordinary service in the sports community, while modeling the basic
traits of good character: respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and
citizenship.
Proposed Child Care Ordinance Amendment Works its Way Through County
Process, Board Discusses At Meeting
Staff continues to develop options for amending the Zoning Ordinance to
allow up to 12 children to be cared for in a single family home if
otherwise approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Right now the maximum
number of children allowed in Fairfax County is ten.
