Supervisor Cook to Host Community Meeting 2-19
Fairfax – Fairfax County Supervisor John C. Cook will host a community
meeting on Wednesday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Lake Braddock Secondary
School’s Lecture Hall.
“Braddock residents deserve a better transportation system, especially through the Braddock Road corridor” said Supervisor Cook. “This meeting is an opportunity for the community to provide vital input so that the project is a success and meets the needs of my constituents.”
The meeting will focus on Fairfax County’s upcoming analysis and planning to widen Braddock Road and add HOV lanes from Burke Lake Road to the Beltway. During the meeting the County will outline the project, collect public feedback, and introduce a citizen’s committee integral to the planning.
In addition to widening Braddock Road from Burke Lake to the Beltway, County plans include a potential transit center behind the Kings Park Shopping Center and possible widening of Braddock Road from Guinea to Burke Lake.
The stretch of Braddock Road potentially slated for widening currently handles approximately 70,000 automobile trips a day, one of the more congested corridors in the County. The effort is made possible through Virginia’s transportation funding bill which passed last year.
