PARKING GARAGE AND FORMATION OF TASK FORCE
In 2003, my office formed a task force. The Burke Centre VRE
Parking Facility Expansion Task Force was comprised of community
representatives from neighborhoods surrounding the Burke Centre VRE
Station.
The Task Force worked with my office and staff from the County and the VRE to ensure that the location and the design for structured parking would be aesthetically pleasing, compatible with the residential community, provide multi-modal accessibility, and be environmentally sensitive.
The Task Force also participated in, and will continue to participate in the planning of operational issues, including safety, both during and after the construction phase of the parking structure.
The Task Force reviewed opportunities for and, working with County staff, make recommendations for maximizing non-motorized access to the Burke Centre VRE Station (i.e. trails, sidewalks).
