Learn how residents, businesses, developers and government can work together to revitalize older commercial centers. Hosted by the Fairfax County Office of Community Revitalization and Reinvestment, the conference features three speakers discussing varied approaches to engaging the community in redevelopment projects: Peggy Gaynor, president of Gaynor, Inc. discusses working on the Thorton Creek project in Seattle, Washington; Jair Lynch, president and CEO of JAIR LYNCH Development Partners shares his experience with developing urban mixed-use projects within Washington, D.C.; and Cecilia Cassidy, executive director for Rosslyn Renaissance/Rosslyn BID, discusses how a partnership of residential, commercial and government entities worked to create a sense of place within Rosslyn. The conference was held at the Fairfax County Government Center on September 13, 2010. Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova and Mount Vernon District Supervisor Gerry Hyland delivered welcoming remarks while closing remarks were given by Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay. |
