MEMORANDUM
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VIRGINIA

TO: Nonprofit Organizations              DATE: June 27, 2002

FROM: Verdia Haywood, Deputy County Executive

SUBJECT: July 18 @ 9:30 AM in the Pennino Building Training Room
Kick-Off Training and Technical Assistance for 2003 Initiatives

I would like to invite you and the key representatives of your organization toattend a launch meeting for Phase II of the Fairfax County Nonprofit Organizational Development Initiative at 9:30 AM on Thursday, July 18, 2002 at the Fairfax County Pennino Building, 12011 Government Center Parkway, Second Floor Training Room. The Clifton Gunderson consulting team (CG) will present the aggregate results from the Phase I assessment and review training and plans for Phase II of this project. Please contact Ms. Jin Kim from CG at 301/931-2050 or jin.kim@cliftongundersoncpa.com to confirm your attendance.

Thank you so much for taking the time to participate in the organizational development assessment of your nonprofit agency by CG. As you are aware, the purpose of the Nonprofit Organizational Development Initiative is to strengthen the organizational capacity of organizations serving Fairfax County residents. Both the number of organizations that participated in the initial assessment (50) and the results of organizational strengths found in agencies are very encouraging.

The Nonprofit Organizational Development Initiative is structured as two phases: (1) a voluntary assessment of organizational development to be completed by the nonprofit community-based organizations (CBOs) and CG, and (2) subsequent training and technical assistance. The first phase has been completed and CG has prepared a draft final report for the County. As we agreed early in the Initiative, your report on your organization is not provided to the County. Only the aggregate results from all 50 CBOs have been communicated to the County.

Your organization has received an individual report from CG on strengths and areas of potential development. In order to continue to make this Initiative as successful as possible, we need to receive your feedback. Attached is a very brief survey to get your input on the information you received from CG.Please take a moment to complete this survey and return it to Steve Knippler by July 12th @ FAX (703) 246-5115. Please feel free to contribute any suggestions and feedback at any time to the staff at CG or the County.

This Initiative has been successful because of your involvement and hard work. This next phase will need your energy, involvement and organizational strength as well. I look forward to seeing you at the meeting on July 18th.
