Private Sector Energy Task Force
Mission Statement
The Fairfax County Private Sector Energy Task Force will identify opportunities to develop a transformational vision, supported by achievable strategies that will define the steps our community can take to position itself as a leader in the area of energy efficiency, sustainability, and “green” technology.
Summary
The Private Sector Energy Task Force was created by Chairman Sharon Bulova and is chaired by Leo Schefer, President of the Washington Airports Task Force. The purpose of the Task Force is to bring together prominent members of the Fairfax County business community as well as academia to create a new energy strategy for the County.
The Task Force will create a transformational vision, and its goals will be met through the identification and implementation of scalable, community-wide energy efficiency projects focused on producing measurable results for businesses. By achieving a reduction of energy use for Fairfax County businesses of all sizes, these projects will give companies a clear return on their investment not only through lowered costs but also through increased competitiveness in the region and in the country.
The new energy strategy will also attract green collar jobs to Fairfax County. This will be achieved by fostering a business community that these industries find attractive, one that is committed, across all sectors, to achieving ambitious energy efficiency goals.
