Statement from Sharon Bulova Following Earthquake

August 23, 2011 – Fairfax County is working with our public safety and Office of Emergency Management staff, as well as state and federal officials, to monitor and assess the situation following the earthquake. Right now we have no reports of any structural damage in Fairfax County and most buildings have reopened. Evacuation at the Government Center went well and it is back open. The Massey building and the Courthouse are closed. All polling locations remain open until 7pm as scheduled.

I encourage you to take this time to check on friends and family and neighbors and offer any assistance that may be needed. Remember in times like these that while you may be safe and secure, many of our neighbors could use a helping hand.
