Fairfax Board Backs LaHood Strategy on Dulles Rail
July 26, 2011 – The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors today approved a resolution backing the strategy for completing Phase 2 of the Rail to Dulles project outlined by Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. The resolution lays out the concerns of the Board members, as previously reflected in a sense of the board released last week by Chairman Sharon Bulova, and reiterates Fairfax County’s commitment to completing Phase 2.
“This resolution endorses the strategy in the draft MOU Secretary LaHood presented last week. Our Board believes that if our concerns are addressed, the MOU will allow this critical project to be completed on time and in a way that is affordable to all funding partners including the Dulles Toll Road users,” Chairman Bulova said.
“Rail to Dulles continues to be Fairfax County’s number one transportation priority and the Board remains committed to completing the Project in a timely and cost effective manner. The Board also is committed to working with our partners to address financial and project related issues,” Chairman Bulova said.
