| The deputy
county executive/information for Fairfax
County Government is responsible for the management of all
aspects of information and technology needed to support the
county government and its constituents. The Department
of Information Technology, the Fairfax
County Public Library and the Department
of Cable Communications and Consumer Protection report directly
to the deputy county executive. In addition, the deputy county
executive is also responsible for HIPAA compliance
coordination for the county government and its departments.
The deputy county executive:
- Reports directly to the county
executive and advises the Board
of Supervisors and Senior County management on information,
technology and HIPAA matters.
- Coordinates the efforts of the departments
and functions reporting directly to the deputy county executive
and is responsible for information technology planning, budgets
and standards across the enterprise.
- Serves on the county's Strategic Information
Technology Committee.
- Works with the Information Technology Policy
Advisory Committee (ITPAC), which is appointed by the Board
of Supervisors, to review and advise the Board regarding the
county's information technology direction.
- Works with the Fairfax County Public Library Board, Tenant Landlord Commission and
Consumer Protection Commission.
- Works with the Office of Public Affairs and the
Fairfax County Economic Development Authority.
- Publicizes the county's information and
technology related services and capabilities.
- Represents the Fairfax County Government
on local, state, national and international government groups
and committees.
- Chairs the County's Special Medical and Social Needs Committee
In addition, the deputy county executive is
responsible for the strategic direction of the county's award
winning e-government program, which includes the county's
Web site, multimedia kiosks,
interactive voice response systems,
mobile
access, Access Fairfax
and cable television
channel. Fairfax County is a leader in e-government and
e-business transactions and services. The e-government program
addresses the digital divide by providing multiple platforms
for transactions with the county and has been successful in
creating a 24-hour government, without doors, walls or clocks.
