Public Meeting for Proposed Service Changes to Routes 304 and 371
November 9, 2012
Fairfax Connector is proposing service changes to routes 304 and 371 to provide additional service to the new Saratoga Park and Ride lot, in addition to the Backlick North Park and Ride lot and Pentagon Metrorail Station.
There will be a public meeting to discuss these changes. Passengers and neighborhood residents are encouraged to attend.
Saturday, Nov. 17: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
South County Government Center
Room 221 B/C
8350 Richmond Highway, Alexandria
Accessible by Fairfax Connector Route 171 and Metrobus REX
Following is a summary of the changes to routes 304 and 371:
Proposed changes: Eliminate connection to the Franconia-Springfield Metrorail Station and provide a direct connection to the Pentagon Metrorail Station. Also, eliminate service along Alban and Backlick Roads (see proposed service changes to Route 371). Provide service to the new Saratoga Park and Ride lot.
Proposed changes: Create new routes 372 and 373. The new routes will serve areas currently served by routes 304 and 371. Route 304 ridership has declined since the implementation of Route 371. Route 371 has been attributed with taking the majority of the ridership from Route 304. Routes 372 and 373 will be rush-hour only routes, splitting the southern alignment of the current Route 371 of Lorton and serve the Alban Road section of Route 304. Route 371 operate in the early mornings in addition to the midday, evenings and weekends.
