Free Rides on Air Quality Forecast Code Red Days
The Northern Virginia Forecast Air Quality Code Red Days Free Ride Bus Fare program (Ride Free) is designed to encourage citizens to leave their cars at home and ride the bus on days that are forecast to have excessive levels of pollution during the summer season. Through this program, Metrobus (Northern Virginia only), Fairfax Connector, Alexandria DASH, Arlington Transit, Loudoun County Transit, OmniRide, OmniLink, CUE, Virginia Regional Transit and the Falls Church GEORGE Bus will offer free bus rides on those days forecast to be Air Quality Code Red. These days occur when ozone levels are extremely high and air quality is very poor. Ride Free is one technique that can help the region stay within federal clean air standards. The Ride Free program runs this season from May 1, 2008 - September 15, 2008.
Listen to your local radio or TV station to announce an Air Quality Forecast Code Red Day; and remember, ride Fairfax Connector for free and... "Do Your Share to Clean the Air."
