The Consumer Protection Commission members and Consumer Affairs staff are
available to talk to community groups, civic groups, high school students, senior groups and
the media about consumer issues relevant to them. If you would like a presentation made to your group, please contact
Consumer Affairs at 703-222-8435, TTY 711 or fill out the online form.
Some past presentations included:
- Providing consumer information and outreach at community events such as Celebrate Fairfax and Fall for Fairfax
- Addressing senior citizen groups on scams directed at seniors
- Teaching classes to 6,000 high school students on consumer issues such as credit cards, car purchases, and apartment rentals
- Giving consumer advice on local radio programs and television including Channel 16’s Consumer Focus and Your Community, Your Call
- Contributing information for articles that appear in the Golden Gazette, a senior publication provided by the Fairfax County Agency on Aging
- Presenting information to law enforcement agencies on taxis, door to door solicitation, massage establishments and pawn brokers
- Providing advice to condominium and homeowner’s associations
- Advising on public utilities such as electric, natural gas, and telephone services
