Jury Fraud Alert

Jury Fraud Alert

Wednesday, April 16th, 2014

My office has received numerous phone calls in the last two days concerning a jury duty scam. Here is how the scam works. A caller identifies themselves as either a Sheriff's Deputy or a local police officer. They inform you that you missed jury duty and that you now owe a fine of several hundred dollars. You are then threatened with arrest if you do not pay the fine. At least one of the callers asked the resident to obtain a Green Dot Money Pak Card and then call back in order to pay the fine.

This is a scam! My office will never call you and ask you to give us your bank account number, credit card number, social security number or any kind of money card.

The Sheriff's Department and both the Fairfax County and City of Fairfax Police have been alerted.

If you have any questions or concerns about this or any other circuit court related issue, please feel free to call my office at 703 246-4111.
