Denial of Voter Registration
Residents who receive notification from the Fairfax County General Registrar's office that their Virginia voter registration application has been denied, have two options outlined in the document below. Residents should first try resubmitting a new application.
Approval of the Right to be Eligible to Register to Vote (Felon)
A petition must be filed by a convicted felon seeking court approval of the restoration of the right to be eligible to register to vote. This procedure applies only to the right to vote, not to the other civil rights, which are lost upon conviction of a felony. Petitions may be filed in the Circuit Court of the county or city in which the Petitioner resides or in the county or city in which the individual was convicted.
