Hundreds of participants, thousands of dollars in donations from 2012 Tim Harmon 5K in Fairfax County
Hundreds of runners and walkers of all ages turned out Saturday for the 13th annual Tim Harmon Recovery Run/Walk 5K, sponsored by the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) and Friends of A New Beginning.
The annual event raises funds to help people served by the CSB and promotes awareness about substance abuse and Hepatitis C. This year’s receipts, from race registration fees, silent auction proceeds and other donations, are still coming in, but already appear to be exceeding last year’s level! Organizers estimate that the event will net between $14,000 and $15,000. Funds will be distributed to local groups that provide critical basic supports, such as eyeglasses and clothing, to individuals receiving CSB services, and to the Hepatitis Foundation and the American Liver Foundation, to promote awareness about Hepatitis C and substance abuse.
