Northern Virginia Regional Projects Office - Intensive Services
Regional Discharge and Assistance Project
Creative plans using Regional Discharge and Assistance Project (RDAP) funding are jointly authorized by Aftercare Managers from the five CSBs.
RDAP plans, which pay for appropriate treatment settings and living expenses as needed, have been pivotal in transitioning multiple consumers from the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute into the community.
Crisis Stabilization Units
Three regionally-funded Crisis Stabilization Units (CSUs), located in three different counties, have a total capacity of 26 beds. Staff from Emergency Services of the five CSBs place at-risk voluntary consumers with no financial resources into these beds when these consumers do not need the additional structure of a hospital setting but do need a safe environment with more structure than home.
Admissions are broken down as follows:
- 62% are hospital diversion,
- 35% are step-down from a hospital, and
-
2% are respite or back-up to residential programs
One of these CSUs, Woodburn Place Adult Crisis Care, is operated by the Fairfax-Falls Church CSB.
