The Department of Family Services works in partnership with the
community for the well-being of the people of Fairfax. One of the
objectives in our Strategic Plan is to encourage DFS employees to
volunteer together. It's a wonderful team-building opportunity for DFS
and a way for employees to connect and partner with our community.
DFS Self-Sufficiency workers held a Back to School Drive
within the Lake Anne building to collect items for school age
children in the community.
Members of the DFS senior management team made crafts and
exercised with older adults at the South County Senior Center.
Partners at the Domestic Violence Action Center Purpled Out.
Employees in the Office for Women & Domestic and Sexual Violence
partnered with other county agencies, non-profits, businesses
community groups to raise awareness of domestic violence.
The DFS Communications Team enjoyed walking dogs for the Fairfax
County Animal Shelter.
Adult Protective Services social workers participated in the
LoziLu Women's Mud Run Festival benefitting L.I.F.E for children
The Offender Services Team in the Office for Women & Domestic
Sexual Violence Services sorted and labeled holiday gifts
and organized the food pantry at
FACETS (Fairfax Area Community Emergency and Transitional Services).
