Department of Family Services Employees Volunteer in the Community

The Department of Family Services works in partnership with the community for the well-being of the people of Fairfax. One of the objectives in our Strategic Plan is to encourage DFS employees to volunteer together. It's a wonderful team-building opportunity for DFS and a way for employees to connect and partner with our community.

DFS Self-Sufficiency workers held a Back to School Drive
within the Lake Anne building to collect items for school age children in the community.

Members of the DFS senior management team made crafts and
exercised with older adults at the South County Senior Center.

Partners at the Domestic Violence Action Center Purpled Out.
Employees in the Office for Women & Domestic and Sexual Violence Services
partnered with other county agencies, non-profits, businesses and
community groups to raise awareness of domestic violence.

The DFS Communications Team enjoyed walking dogs for the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.

Adult Protective Services social workers participated in the
LoziLu Women's Mud Run Festival benefitting L.I.F.E for children with cancer.

The Offender Services Team in the Office for Women & Domestic and
Sexual Violence Services sorted and labeled holiday gifts
and organized the food pantry at
FACETS (Fairfax Area Community Emergency and Transitional Services).
