Family Intervention Resource and Engagement Program

Available Services 24-hour crisis intervention and consultation. Help with identifying and assessing appropriate community resources. Services coordination, collaboration with referring departments and community resources. Program Description The Family Intervention Resource and Engagement team includes Children, Youth and Families Division social workers who can provide six to eight weeks of intervention to families. The team assesses a family’s strengths and provides services to promote a healthy family life. The team believes supporting and empowering parents help families develop and maintain self sufficiency. Eligible Families Only families participating in a Department of Family Services; Children, Youth and Families Division program are eligible for services from the FIRE Program. Children, Youth and Families Division programs include: Foster Care and Adoption Child Protective Services Family and Child Services Prevention Services Who May Benefit from This Program Families identified by Children, Youth and Families Division social workers as high or very high risk. Families with one or more primary caretakers who are willing and able to participate in the program and recognize there is a need for short-term, intensive, in-home crisis intervention. Families at risk of having a child removed from the home in the next three to five days. Value Statements The team is committed to providing solution-focused, culturally sensitive and strength-based services to families. The team is committed to supporting families in their environment using practical approaches. Families take the lead in developing and setting their own goals with input from referring workers and team staff. Program Goals Prevent out-of-home placement of children. Assure the safety and well-being of children. Improve family functioning. Collaborate with the family in developing a service plan that is based on their strengths and competencies. Provide culturally competent and community based services. Engage the extended family and community resources to provide support to the family.
