Twenty-five Fairfax County Public Schools students spent the day with county social workers, emergency personnel, librarians, recreation staff, communicators and administrators to learn about their training requirements and day-to-day responsibilities on October 28 at the Fairfax County Government Center. The event was organized by Department of Family Services’ Disability Services Planning Development. The students attended seminars on career exploration and then “shadowed” their county job mentors throughout the afternoon. Mentors were selected to match the career goals and interests of the students. Teachers, involved with also participated in the day. This program helps students with disabilities transition from high school to college or the job market. Capital Grille Restaurants of Tysons Corner and Chevy Chase provided the luncheon, gratis.
