The Fairfax Caregiver Seminar Consortium kicks off its fall series of free seminars on Tuesday evening, September 19, with a presentation by Sharon Lynn, LCSW, assistant director of the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging.

“When More Help Is Needed with Caregiving” will present information to help those caring for older adults assess their current caregiving situation and prepare for future needs. The seminar is free and the public is invited. Registration is encouraged, but not required. To register, call 703-324-5205, (TTY 703-449-1186).

When: Tuesday, Sept. 19, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Where: Braddock Glen Adult Day Health Care Center      4029 Olley Lane, Fairfax (Call 703-978-0502 before 5:30 p.m. for directions )

Other seminars offered this fall will cover a range of topics including:

  • balancing work, family and elder care,
  • planning for the costs of caregiving,
  • helping caregivers find ways to reduce their own stress,
  • legal and financial issues,
  • medication use and abuse,
  • dementia, and
  • surviving the holidays with humor.

Seminars are sponsored by the Fairfax Caregiver Seminar Consortium with funding from the National Family Caregiver Support Program. Consortium members: Alzheimer's Association, Alzheimer's Family Day Center, Thomas West Financial Services, Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services, Fairfax County Department of Family Services, Fairfax County Health Department, and Fairfax County Public Library.
