March 25 event highlights progress and future for women in news media
“Women in Media – Making Strides,” a free event sponsored by the Fairfax County Commission For Women, the Fairfax County Office for Women, and George Mason University, will take place Sunday afternoon, March 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center.
Participants will have an opportunity to hear from local area women in the news media: Maureen Bunyan, News Anchor, ABC 7; Peggy Fox, Reporter W*USA – Channel 9 News; George Mason University professors Dr. Janette Kenner Muir and Dr. Cindy Lont; and Colleen M. Hahn, President, Equal Footing Foundation.
This is a chance to meet and hear from panel experts concerning strides women have made, challenges they face, and how the Internet is changing news media and journalism.
The event is open to the public, free of charge, and light refreshments will be provided. Pre-registration is required. The entire community is invited to participate in the event!
