“If you’ve got the wheels, we’ve got the meals,” says Pam Graff, volunteer services coordinator for the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging with Fairfax County’s Department of Family Services.
Volunteers are urgently needed throughout Fairfax County to deliver meals to local homebound seniors and adults with disabilities through the county’s “Meals on Wheels” program.
“To be a volunteer driver, all you need is a car, a desire to help, and about two hours in the middle of the day, once or twice a month,” Graff explains.
Volunteer leaders are also needed to coordinate with meal vendors, develop monthly schedules for drivers, and provide maps and directions for delivery routes.
If you’re ready to volunteer, or if you’d like to find out more,
please call the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging at 703-324-5406, TTY
703-449-1186. Leave your name and phone number, and your call will be
returned promptly. Information is also available on the county Web site
