Fairfax County’s Volunteers Solutions needs volunteers to deliver cases of nutritional supplements to older people in the Reston area. Call 703-324-5406 (TTY 703-449-1186) or email DFSAAAvolunteer@fairfaxccounty.gov for more information on this and other opportunities.
Volunteer deliverers must have a valid driver’s license. Volunteer time is flexible and mileage reimbursement is available.
Volunteer Solutions is a program of the Department of Family Services’ Division of Adult and Aging Services and Fairfax Area Agency on Aging.
“All of our programs help older people stay in their own homes,” said Volunteers Solutions Director Ruth Reagan “Having their liquid nutritional supplements delivered helps older people maintain their health and nutritional status,” she said. “Volunteers also provide a brief but very important social connection,” she added.
Volunteer Solutions provides a number of other opportunities including driving older people to medical appointments, grocery shopping, insurance counseling, Pets on Wheels, and friendly visiting. “You can volunteer with Volunteer Solutions pretty much any time of the day,” she said.
