Wastewater Projects Under Construction

  • Solids Processing Rehabilitation – Phase I Project 

    • Project No. WW-000001-009
    • Engineer – John A. Royse
    • Scope – Construction of the rehabilitation of the Difficult Run Pumping Station (DRPS), located at 9950 Colvin Run Road, Great Falls, VA. The existing DRPS is designed to pump 10 million gallons per day (MGD) and is equipped with four vertical non-clog pumps with 225 horsepower motors.  Rehabilitation work includes generally all systems and equipment within the existing structure, including providing an emergency pumping station bypass.  The county reserves the right to include the rehabilitation/replacement of the associated force main.
    • Anticipated Completion – Summer 2017

  • Barcroft I & II Pumping Stations Project

    • Project No. WW-000001-007 B
    • Engineer – Terrence Steele
    • Scope – Rehabilitation of Barcroft I Pump Station, (0.25MGD), at 6411A Waterway Drive and Barcroft II Pump Station (0.14MGD) at 6302A Crosswood Circle. The scope includes replacement of pumps, sump pumps, controls, HVAC systems, and emergency generators; addition of sewage grinders, odor control systems, automatic transfer switches, and upgrade of the electrical system and controls.
    • Anticipated Completion – Winter 2017

  • Glenbrook Road Extension & Improvement Project

    • Project No. WW-000006-011
    • Engineer – Michael Gallo
    • Scope – Extension of gravity sanitary sewer connections to seven properties along Glenbrook Road in Fairfax.
    • Anticipated Completion – Winter 20176
    • Contractor – Total Civil Construction and Engineering
  • Dead Run Force Main Rehabilitation Project

    • Project No. WW-000007-007
    • Engineer – Michael Gallo
    • Scope – Rehabilitation of the remaining 2,700 linear feet of 14 inch diameter cast iron force main along Churchill Road between Dead Run and Fleetwood Road in McLean utilizing a cured in place pipe liner.
    • Anticipated Completion – Spring 2017
    • Contractor – Total Civil Construction and Engineering 
  • Motor Control Center and Distribution Center Project

    • Project No. WW-000009-002
    • Engineer – Amin Elmubarak
    • Scope – Replacement, refurbishment, and/or modification of electrical distribution centers and motor control centers plant-wide and related work.
    • Anticipated Completion – Spring 2022
    • Contractor – Clark Construction Group 
  • Difficult Run Pump Station Rehabilitation Project

    • Project No. WW-000001-009
    • Engineer – Andy Royse
    • Scope – Rehabilitation of the Difficult Run Pump Station (10 MGD) located at 9950 Colvin Run Road. The four existing pumps and other components are to be replaced.
    • Anticipated Completion – Winter 2017
    • Contractor – Ulliman Schutte Construction
  • Switchgear Replacement Project

    • Project No. WW-000001-004
    • Engineer – Brendan Schillo
    • Scope – Replacement of existing 4160V outdoor electrical switchgear at the Accotink and Freund House (formerly Dogue Creek) pump stations.
    • Contractor – Cynergy Energy Company
  • Equalization Basins Rehabilitation Project

    • Project No. WW-000016-009
    • Engineer – Mujahid Ali
    • Scope – Rehabilitation includes lining QQ1, minor rehabilitation of QQ2 and QQ3 and associated pump stations, and construction of a floodwall along Pohick Creek.
    • Anticipated Completion – Summer 2018
    • Contractor – M.A. Bongiovanni
  • Giles Run Pump Station Rehabilitation Project

    • Project No. WW-000001-011
    • Engineer – Colleen Block
    • Scope – Rehabilitation of Giles Run Pump Station to replace existing equipment in need of upgrades, modify control building, and increase design capacity to 2.0 MGD.
    • Anticipated Completion – Summer 2017
    • Contractor – HITT Contracting, Inc.
  • Accotink and Little Hunting Creek Force Main Project

    • Project No. WW-000008-002
    • Engineer – Natasha Schmidt
    • Scope – Spot repair of one 20-foot section of existing 42 inch diameter Accotink force main and two 20-foot sections of the 30 inch diameter Little Hunting Creek force main.
    • Anticipated Completion – Winter 2017
    • Contractor – Sagres Construction
