Jr., Pollution Control Plant, 9399 Richmond Highway, Lorton,
Virginia 22079. The rehabilitation of the primary sludge
degritting facilities and replacement of MCC-2 project consists of,
but is not limited to; replace grit removal and screening
equipment, HVAC equipment, electrical equipment,
instrumentation/control equipment, pumps, and valves; improve
building conditions (door/window replacement, floor drainage,
lighting, flushing water); install health and safety equipment;
improve vehicular access to grit dumpsters and the loading dock;
and remove abandoned sodium hypochlorite tank, pumps and piping
from lower level of H1 Building.

Scope – The Upgrades to the Standby Generators project consists of,
but is not limited to, demolition of an existing sludge thickening
facility and three existing 2,000 kW generators and the
installation of five new 2,000 kW generators, switch gear/controls
and necessary associated electrical work. The project scope also
includes extensive upgrades to the plant's existing switchgear,
installation of new switchgear and manual transfer switches and
installation of a plant-wide fiber optic cable communication
system. Extensive coordination between the Contractor and Dominion
Virginia Power is required throughout the course of the project.

Scope – Replace a 36-inch section of pipe crossing Holmes Run that
failed due to floodwaters from September 2011 Tropical Storm Lee.
The project is split into two phases. Phase 1 establishes a
permanent bypass from the Fairfax County Manhole to an Alexandria
Sanitation Authority Manhole. Phase 2 will replace the 36”
pipe stream crossing.

2,400 square yards of sodding, 14,090 square yards of asphalt
overlay, and other related items. Be advised that a portion of
this project is located within an area that may contain naturally
occurring asbestos soils.

Scope – Construction of the ATLL Unit Phase IIIB Liner, and MSW
Unit Cap and Drainage Improvements covering approximately 25.0
acres. The project includes, in general, the installation of
approximately 11.0 acres of multi-layer soil and geosynthetic liner
system, miscellaneous site grading, leachate collection system,
landfill gas system, improvements to stormwater systems at SB-23
and SB-26, perimeter berms, seeding of disturbed areas, and road
improvements on the project site. The project also includes
construction of several concrete structures and extensive work
inside a confined space, where landfill gas is present.
