Fiberglass columns used to transfer structural loads and/or for use in an interior condition must be specifically listed for such uses by a nationally recoginized independent testing laboratory certified by International Accreditation Service (IAS).
Structural columns must be tested in accordance with the Internatonal Code Council-Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) Acceptance Criteria AC-265. Columns approved for use in an interior condition must be tested per ASTM E-84 protocols and must have a smoke density rating of less than 450.
The products listed below are approved for use in Fairfax County. Follow the appropriate links to obtain a copy of the associated evaluation reports which are required to be submitted during the plan review phase of the permit application process.
