Building Construction:
-
In early January 2008, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors
formally named the facility, the McConnell Public Safety and
Transportation Operations Center, in honor of retired Supervisor
Elaine McConnell.
-
The collaboration, planning, and communication of the McConnell
Public Safety and Transportation Operations Center (MPSTOC)
partners continue, and have resulted in a project that is 86%
complete, on schedule, and within budget.

PSTOC Facility:
-
The building and the two story connector to the Forensics
building were closed in during September 2007 and heated
since December 2007 allowing all interior work to progress.
-
Procurement and installation of 94 consoles for the
communications center has been authorized.
-
Interior walls are nearly complete.
-
Ceiling grids and lighting fixtures are in progress.
-
Terrazzo floor is finished in the main lobby area and in
progress at the employee entrance.
-
Installation of removable access floors is complete.
-
Equipment installation including the elevator and fuel oil
tanks is nearing completion.
-
Ceramic tile is complete and plumbing fixtures are being
installed in the restrooms.
-
Seismic bracing of overhead piping and racks is nearing
completion.

The major electrical components, panels, and conduits are in
place.

Cable pulling and termination is in progress.
-
One boiler is operating to provide building heat.
-
The anti-ram perimeter wall is complete except for some cast
in place concrete sections.
Forensics Facility:
-
The building was closed in ahead of schedule during September
and is heated.
-
Interior walls are rapidly progressing.
-
Installation of overhead ductwork, piping, and electrical
tray and conduit are nearing completion.
-
Installation of laboratory casework and equipment has
started.
-
Work on the enclosed service yard and vehicle storage area is
in progress.
