Public Hearing for Richmond Highway Public Transportation
Initiative
On Tuesday, September 25, 2007, a design public hearing was held for the
Richmond Highway Public Transportation Initiative. This initiative is
Fairfax County's plan to improve transit services and pedestrian
facilities along Richmond Highway (US Route 1) between Huntington Avenue
(Route 1332) and Old Mill Road/Mount Vernon Memorial Highway (Route 235).
It includes upgrading bus stops, improving pedestrian facilities at
various intersections, and filling in missing sidewalks along Richmond
Highway. For more information about this project, the public hearing and
the locations of the proposed improvements, please see below. Comments
from the public hearing have been compiled and are being addressed.
Design is in progress for the plans presented at the September 25, 2007
public hearing.
