Decking and Rail
For decking and/or rail
composed of structural plastics to be approved for use in Fairfax County,
they must be listed by a certified evaluation service such as the International Code Council-Evaluation
Service (ICC-ES) in accordance with ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria
AC-174.
The evaluation service must issue an evaluation report
to verify the decking and rail's compliance with the building code.
The products approved for use in Fairfax County are listed by the following (click on the product description to obtain a copy of the corresponding evaluation report):

- Architectural Testing (all listings)
Only those products with evaluation reports which reference the 2003 or 2006 International Residential Code or International Building Code will be accepted by Fairfax County. Reports referencing legacy codes are no longer accepted. Please attach a copy of the evaluation report with each set of plans during the permit application process.
