Management Category Description

The Popes Head watershed is of relatively high quality in general, and as such, the majority of the drainage is classified as a Watershed Protection Area. However, some regions are showing signs of approaching a threshold of biological integrity. Degradation, especially in terms of habitat quality, is evident in some localized areas on both Piney Branch and the mainstem, and each of these areas is designated as Watershed Restoration Level I Areas, warranting a priority assessment focus.
