The chimney must extend a minimum of 3 feet above the roof line and be
at least 2 feet higher than any thing within 10 feet of the
chimney.

inches of a fireplace opening. Combustible material within 12 inches of
the fireplace opening shall not project more than 1/8 inch for each 1

When a chimney is located in the interior of the building a 2 inch air
space must be maintained between the chimney and any wood framing or
other combustible material. Fire blocking is still required when the
chimney passes through a floor or ceiling. You can use tin at the floor
and ceiling level.

A factory-built fireplaces must be installed per the manufacturer’s
installation instruction. The hearth extension shall be installed per the
manufacturers instructions and be readily distinguishable from the
surrounding floor area.

No, un-vented gas appliances (i.e., gas logs, room heaters) can not be
installed in bedrooms, bathrooms, toilet rooms or storage closets. A gas
appliance can not draw combustion air from any of these location;
bedrooms, bathrooms, toilet rooms or storage closets. A gas log in a
sealed factory built fireplace that has combustion air ducts and direct
vented exhaust can be installed in a bedroom.
