What are the required inspections for my project, and when do I need to call for their inspection?

The required inspections depend on the project. Please refer to our publications page and reference your specific project. You can also review New Home Inspections.


How do I find out the results of my inspection?

The results of your inspection will be posted online and emailed to the parties that provided email addresses during the permitting process. You may also check inspection results through:

  • Online, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Our staff by calling 703-222-0455, TTY 711.
  • The commercial or residential offices during business hours:
    • Residential inspections: 703-631-5101, TTY 711, press option #4
    • Commercial mechanical, electrical, and plumbing inspections: 703-324-1910, TTY 711.
    • Commercial building or Critical Structures inspections: 703-324-1060, TTY 711

Please have your permit number available to expedite the process.


Who should I talk to when my inspection has been rejected a number of times?

Call your inspector or a commercial or residential supervisor to determine how to solve the problem.
