TextFAQs: Scheduling an Inspection
Please schedule, check the status, or cancel an inspection through:
- Online, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Our automated telephone system at 703-222-2474, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Our staff by calling 703-222-0455, TTY 711.
If you are unable to cancel an inspection before the day for which it is scheduled, call the commercial or residential offices:
- Residential Inspections: 703-631-5101, TTY 711, press option #4.
- Commercial Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Inspections: 703-324-1910, TTY 711.
- Commercial Building or Critical Structures Inspections: 703-324-1060, TTY 711.
If you use our automated telephone system or Web site, you may schedule your inspections up to 11:59 p.m. for the next business day, otherwise, inspections scheduled by staff must be made by 4 p.m. for the next business day. We can schedule inspections for up to 30 days in advance; we cannot schedule same day inspections.
Unfortunately Fairfax County is unable to offer this type of service. However, you may call your inspector between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on the day of your inspection to discuss his/her schedule. In addition, staff of the commercial or residential inspection offices may be able to provide you with assistance.
