FAQs: Vacuum Leaf Collection
The cost of the service is based on the assessed individual property value, and billed as a separate item on the real estate tax bill. The current assessed rate is $0.015 per $100 of a home's assessed value. For example, a home assessed at $500,000 will pay $75 per year for vacuum leaf collection.
Refer to the leaf collection brochure recently mailed to you. Look for yellow signs in your neighborhood. These signs are posted several days prior to the start of collection and list the estimated timeframe we will be in your area. Signs also list the corresponding area. (Note: The area designation will be a number between one and nine or the letter "M".) You may also look up your street address on the list provided.
No. That means that you should have your leaves raked or blown to the curb no later than Nov. 7 because vacuum leaf collection trucks will start collecting leaves in your area on Nov. 8.
It is very difficult to predict when the heaviest fall of leaves will occur. In addition to weather, various operational issues (e.g., equipment problems) can affect the collection schedule. As a result, we are not able to provide you with fixed dates.
You will have to wait until the next collection in your neighborhood. This could be a couple of weeks later. Look for the posted signs with new dates. If you miss the 3rd pick up for your area, you will need to bag the leaves and put them out for collection.
This would put us behind schedule and cause problems in other neighborhoods. Furthermore, such a practice is not cost efficient.
