Residential Peer Reviewer Training
If you're a registered design professional licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia and you are interested in becoming a county-certified residential Peer Reviewer, training is now available from Land Development Services for the Expedited Building Plan Review Program residential option.
The free training is offered in three mandatory sessions from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday October 20, November 3, and November 17 in Room 122 of the Herrity Building. You must attend all three sessions; no make-up dates will be offered. Register Here
County-certified residential Peer Reviewers are also required to obtain
certification from the International Code Council as
a Residential
Building Inspector and Residential
Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner.
The residential option to the Expedited Building Plan Review Program establishes an optional and separate processing procedure for the review of residential additions, detached single family dwellings, and townhouses. Such plans are reviewed by a county-certified residential Peer Reviewer prior to submission to the county for permit issuance. Plans reviewed and recommended for submission by Peer Reviewers are processed by the county on a priority basis cutting the normal permit approval process by at least one-half.
