Proposed Public Facilities Manual and Code Amendments

The Public Facilities Manual and the Code of the County of Fairfax are living documents that are subject to periodic amendments. Listed below are the recently adopted amendments and current proposed code amendments from the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services. Once adopted, these amendments will be listed for at least one year.  Copies may be requested from Land Development Services at 703-324-1780, TTY 771. Follow the links for information specific to each amendment.

Recently Adopted Amendments 

  • April 28, 2008, Adopted:  TRASH AND RECYCLING, HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE PIPE, INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS FOR STORM DRAIN PIPE, SHARED UTILITY EASEMENTS, SERVICE DRIVES, AND EDITORIAL CHANGES: (PFM and code amendments) Amendments revise the provisions related to trash and recycling to align them with Chapter 109.1 (Solid Waste Management) of the County Code and incorporate requirements for the location of and access to solid waste and recycling containers.  Learn more.

  • April 28, 2008, Adopted:  GRASS OR LAWN AREA –NOTICES OF VIOLATION AND APPEAL PROCESS: (code amendment) Amendment to Chapter 119 (Grass or Lawn Area) to the Code of the County of Fairfax, Virginia clarifies the code language and amends the notification/appeal process.  Learn more.

  • Oct. 15, 2007, Adopted: TREE CONSERVATION ORDINANCE: (code amendment) Amendments add a new chapter, Chapter 120 (Tree Conservation Ordinance) and a new appendix, Appendix N (Heritage, Specimen, Memorial and Street Trees Ordinances) to the Code of the County of Fairfax, Virginia. Learn more.

Current Proposed Amendments

  • RESOURCE PROTECTION AREA (RPA) BOUNDARIES: (Proposed amendments to the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area Map: sheets no. 47-2 and 110-1.) The proposed amendment to map sheet no. 47-2 will add a new perennial stream segment and pond with their associated RPAs that begins near Hunter Mill Road and runs in a southwesterly direction between Marbury Road and Mystic Meadow Way to a point of confluence with an existing perennial stream. The proposed amendment to map sheet no. 110-1 corrects the location of a stream segment near the intersection of Adrienne Drive and Old Mill Road that is piped for approximately 450 feet where it crosses Adrienne Drive, corrects the location of the pipe’s outfall, and removes the RPA from over the top of the piped segment of the stream. There are no proposed amendments to the text of the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Ordinance. Learn more.
