Businesses that collect or dispose of trash or recyclables in Fairfax County must participate in one of the programs listed below.

Collects waste and recyclables at least once per week. Trash is transported to county facilities for disposal. - Application for Certificate to Operate

Reduced disposal rate via Waste Delivery/Disposal Agreement (PDF) with county Invoiced monthly by county - Must secure a surety bond of $10,000* for each permitted vehicle.
- County maintains vehicle tare weights
- Permits and Certificates to Operate must be renewed annually. Vehicles must be inspected annually.
Recycling Company
Collects recyclables only and transports them to non-county facilities. Vehicles must be registered with the county. n/a n/a - Registration must be renewed as necessary.
Permitted Disposal Company
Brings waste generated by their own business operations to county facilities for disposal. - Application

- Vehicles are weighed on commercial disposal scales.
- Vehicle permits must be renewed annually.
- May also participate in Commercial Cash Program.
Commercial Cash Customer

Disposal rate according to material type Pay at point of service using credit card, cash, check - Not required to secure a surety bond.
- County can maintain vehicle tare weights (optional).
- Vehicles are weighed on citizen disposal facility scales. These are open later than commercial disposal scales. Gross vehicle weight may not exceed 5 tons.
- Vehicles must have program permit with them in order to dispose of waste.
- Vehicles are retared annually.
Tire Disposal Company Brings tires to I-95 Complex for disposal. - Application

Commercial tire disposal rates Invoiced monthly by county - Must secure a surety bond. Cost depends on number of tires being disposed in county.
