BUILDING PERMITS
Building a sunroom or patio cover in Fairfax County requires the following permits.
- Building permit for architectural and structural elements.
- Electrical permit for all electrical installations.
- Mechanical permit for installations of heating and air conditioning systems.

BUILDING PLANS
You must submit the following during the permit application process.
- Two sets of building plans.
- Two copies of the energy calculations.
- Two copies of the house location plat or grading plan.
- Two copies of the structural analysis.
- Two copies of the Evaluation Report, if applicable, by a listing agency such as the International Code Council – Evaluation Service (ICC-ES).
